well, besides being me, paisley serves as the protagonist of the darkest day + postgame storylines of pokemon sword and shield! she's the older sister of gloria/victor, who still goes on to become the champion, while paisley teams up with zacian/zamazenta (would depend on version, but personally? i'm a sword truther)

originally from the crown tundra, their family moved to postwick when they were quite young. soon after that move paisley wound up becoming friends with professor magnolia's granddaughter, sonia! paisley admires sonia a lot, with sonia teaching them basically everything they know about pokemon even despite their lack of interest.

at some point before the events of the game, paisley wound up becoming a shut-in, only coming out when to look after their younger sibling as they travelled around for the gym challenge. this was when paisley started battling out of necessity when travelling around, though they still weren't super invested in it.

during her journey she found herself being asked by chairman rose to temporarily work for macro cosmos, doing routine power spot check-ins as she travelled around with her sister. hesitantly she agreed, since it wouldn't really get in the way of her travelling around with her sibling since they'd be going around all the same places anyway (and she was more than willing to take some extra cash). paisley ends up growing some suspicions about macro cosmos, but nothing ever substantial enough for her to do anything about it or try to look into it, and that suspicion doesn't take her anywhere until the darkest day.

paisley insisted on accompanying the protagonist and hop to collect the rusted sword and shield, then to the energy plant. she wound up feeling responsible and battling rose herself considering she was an employee of his (even were it not really a fully official arrangement). paisley wanted nothing more than to protect her younger sibling, which led to her then stepping in front of eternamax eternatus in order to protect the children.

paisley's protective instinct as an older sister resonated with zacian, whether it just be because of that instinct to protect others generally or that what people say about zacian being zamazenta's older sister was true, zacian wound up teaming up with paisley while zamazenta teamed up with hop.

after the darkest day paisley wound up skipping out on her younger sibling's championship match. they didn't deal with things well following those events, falling back into bad habits, isolating themself once again. the fear hadn't fully set in at the time she was actually in the midst of that event, she cared too much about protecting her younger sibling, but after it'd been given some time to sink in she realized just how terrified she was. and more than anything she hated the fact she was eternatus' trainer. she was terrified of eternatus, so under her care it would just be relegated to stay in the pc for who knows how long.

seeking some quiet she found herself going into the slumbering weald, only to be met with hop...and then sonia, who paisley had been avoiding up until that point out of shame. sonia seems surprised but ultimately happy to see paisley again, even as paisley trips over her own words and mannerisms while trying to apologize for cutting contact for so long.

their reunion is cut rather short by sordward and shielbert showing up, giving their whole spiel. throughout that entire incident they make quite a habit of mocking paisley's status as a "hero". even after paisley defeats sordward in battle it doesn't seem to up his respect for her in the slightest. throughout the entire incident he takes note that paisley seems to be growing more and more distressed the more dynamax pokemon they battle, up until at the energy plant where they're in a complete panic. something he's more than eager to mock them for, even after their battle when paisley is hesitating to take the elevator up to the tower summit.

atop the tower summit paisley battles the rampaging zamazenta, attempting to calm it down alongside hop and zacian. despite everything when zamazenta runs away and zacian turns its attention to the twins, paisley steps in front of them to protect them. in the same way paisley protecting her sibling and hop had resonated with zacian, this action resonated with the twins. witnessing that and then paisley catching zacian, they developed a newfound respect for her. viewing her as the true ruler, much to both sonia and paisley's objection.
